Upcoming Schools

North Star Academy has plans to grow to 14 schools in Newark by 2020, ultimately serving over 5,000 students. For the 2012-2013 school year, we will be opening two new schools—one elementary and one middle school.

Our fourth middle school will open its doors to 87 5th graders in the fall. Its founding Principal, Keith Burnam, is a Newark native, a graduate of Morehouse College, and is looking forward to working with families to prepare their children for the road to higher education.

Our fourth elementary school will also join the growing North Star family in August 2012. Led in instruction by Lauren Moyle, a founding North Star Elementary teacher, and led in operations by Julye Augustine, elementary school number four will offer even more Newark students a rigorous start to their educational careers. With an incoming class of 87 eager kindergartners, elementary school number four will add one grade per year until it is at scale serving 435 students in grades K - 4.

By next year, North Star will serve over 2,000 Newark students across the city.
